Welcome to the Western Women Co Blog space! I am thrilled that you have stumbled upon my journey and hope it will take you on a ride of a lifetime. The Western Women Co began when I began learning to make jewelry from one of my livestock team members while attending NEO A&M College in Miami, OK. Five years later I was still creating in my spare time and decided to make it into a serious part time business.
Born in the small town of Council Grove, Ks to a colt breaking, horse training Momma, I was inevitably going to be a strong-willed, hardworking, blunt-woman. After moving to a new state my Mother was fortunate enough to find a man who would love me as his own, Mike. I grew up knowing the value of a dollar because not only did I have to earn everything I received but we also didn’t have many dollars to spare at times. Nevertheless, it was instilled into me that I could be, and do, anything I wanted if I was willing to work for it.
My parents always made sacrifices so that my dreams could be a reality. Whether it was showing horses, cattle or Participating in rodeo queen pageants, they backed me financially in the younger years and spiritually in the later years. Being able to try out many things growing up made weekends interesting and grew my passion for the agriculture world.
This infatuation with all facets of agriculture shaped me into a National FFA Floriculture Champion and four years later an agriculture education instructor. I loved my students but didn’t love the pay, so in 2016 I made a career change and became a financial services provider. And that is where I leave you. The rest of my adventures will be filed away in this blog. Please keep in touch with my latest blog posts to learn more about what it means to me to be a strong woman in a man’s world (on a frugal clothing budget.)
